コーヒー畑がいっぱいあります。
この前、両親と共に訪れたコーヒー畑のコーヒー豆は、
ジョージアのエメラルドマウンテンでも使われているとか。
日本でもコロンビアのコーヒーは有名ですよね。

でも、日本が輸入して買うコーヒーのお金、実際は誰の手に届くのでしょう。
今週１週間、コロンビアの小・中学校は休暇です。
その為、子供達の来る人数は少なく、早い時間に食堂は閉めます。
けれど月曜日、いつも以上に遅れてきた２人の男の子。
「今は休暇中だから、もっと早い時間に閉める事になってるの。
今日は良いけど、明日以降、この時間はダメだよ。」
と注意を促しつつ、手を洗っている２人の男の子を見ると手が真っ黒。
石鹸をつけて洗っていても落ちない様子。
「その手、どうしたの？」

「おじさんが行っているコーヒーの収穫に手伝いに行ってたの。
それで手もこんなだし、遅れてしまって。。。」

２人の男の子のうち、１人の男の子は最近よく話しかけてきてくれてる８歳の男の子。
お姉ちゃんと一緒に、数字を日本語で覚えたりしてくれる可愛い子たち。
彼ら姉弟は親が子育ての責任をとらず、おばあちゃんと叔父さんたち（おじさんといっても20代）の家に住んでいる。
家庭の事情を聞いたことのある私は、彼のコーヒー畑への手伝いの話を聞いて色々想像してしまって胸が苦しくなった。
そんな折、「おいしいコーヒーの真実」という映画が日本で公開されていることを思い出し。
